Ray-Ban is an American sunglasses founded in 1937 by
Lester Belisario.
This sunglasses were introduced for the Army Air Corps
of the United States.
In 1936 an American pilot, John A. Mcready, returned
from balloon flight complained because the sun had damaged his eyes. John,
contacted with Bausch & Lomb asking them to create sunglasses for the
protection of the eyes of the people.
They were made of metal bathed with gold and the
glasses were prepared for filter ultraviolet rays.
Pilots in the United States Army Air Corps immediately adopted the
sunglasses. The army wanted sunglasses that would protect the soldiers eyes
while maintaining a stylish look.
Ray-Ban sunglasses won popularity with wars and even
made a debut in the movies.
In 1952, Ray-Ban created another style: The Ray-Ban
Wayfarer, which became famous because were seen on films, TV stars and
musicians.
